Fire:  The Echo Park Plaza

The House of Spirits slum neighbors

Two Vehicle Accident.

Folks do take your time in driving; there is no need to be in a rush.

This particular accident occurred about 10 minutes before 7 am, Monday,

September 28, 2009.

No one was hurt in this accident; however, it all could have been a terrible tragedy.

Please take a closer look at the photos; it is next to a bus stop,

On the sidewalk (just feet away from the where the car went onto the sidewalk) you will see a food vendor and several pedestrians all around.

Appreciate your life and that of others and implement patience and alertness in your driving.

It is

better to take a minute of your life, then to loose your life or that of another in a minute.

What makes a business successful is not the Directors, the Boss or even the Product that it is selling.

Here is an example of what Quality of Service is all about.

It was a regular routine morning, I was enjoying taking my son to school, after dropping my son off

at his school, I decided to take the  hills of Cierro Gordo

and head down Echo Park Ave.  I was a bit lazy and chose to wait for the DASH shuttle bus.

I was left incredibily impressed when I heard a cheerful and truly a down to earth bus driver.  His cordial ability

to interact with others was astounishing.

It is a beautiful techinque that it is almost not available to the public, let along being used in the privacy of our

home.

This tool, or gift he was offering is called "Excellent Customer Service", simply sharing a "Good-mornng",

"Thank you for riding" and that honest smile, that says I am happy to have you using our bus.

Let me introduce you to Bill Garcia.  A man who brings this forgotten graceful kindnesss of making our day

extra special and taking it to extraordinary.

The "Taste of Echo Park" Monday, March 9, 2009 Fundraiser was

a total success, thanks  to all of our guests who attended and who doanted to our cause.

CELAYA BAKERY TAKING AWAY OUR PARKWAY TREE...

Today, Saturday, September 20, 2008 in front of 1630 W. Sunset Blvd, LA CA 90026
Celeya Bakery owner -Patricia Caudillo- asked her gardener to butcher one of our trade marks of Echo Park -our beautiful Ficus trees-
Thanks to the call from Malcolm S. (at 7:30 am) who informed me about the destruction, we were able to salvage the remaining of our tree.
Ms Caudillo's excuse was her clients didn't know where her business is located; the gardener’s excuse was that the owners didn't like the leaves dropping in front of her business.   Rampart Police Station and after hours Street Service department were called.  Two officers (Officers Vasduez  # 38871 and Green #35323) and one Street Service personal came to speak with the Celaya Bakery owner.
I will follow up with The City Attorney, City Council and Street Service about this concern.  There is no excuse for a business owner to take our trees from our community to convert our town to an ugly greenless community.   This action should be penalized to the fullest extend of the law.  Many thanks to Rampart Station and Street Service department for there fine officers and personal for taking the time to care for our town.

Echo Park lake was in full swing of festivity with the annual Cuban Festival on Sunday May 18, 2008.  Hundreds of people attended the event.  The shopping was endless from the delicious aroma of the traditional Cuban food pulling you in,  the beautiful art paintings,  jewelry, clothes and of course the  CIGARS, you add raffles, free items and the great music, even the ducks were having a blast dancing.

Well known cuban photographer Molina has over 40 + years in photography.  Mr. Molina has taken pictures of famous stars, singers and of many of us who have done our First Communion, Confirmations and our Weddings.  His eye for the camera is superb.

You will find  Molina in one of the above pictures, in hand his camera.

If you want Molina to take your family portrait  or have a special event, his contact number is: 323-661-6018

Monday, May 5, 2008 a little pass 2 a.m.  in the morning we were awaken by a persistent horn and bright glowing lights.

Right in the middle of 2200 block of Baxter St. was a white industrial van up in flames.  No owner in sight.  A neighbor was using his water hose to retain the fire from spreading to other areas.

The fire dept. got there just in time before the surrounding trees caught fire.  Within minutes the blazing fire was completely tamed.

I must say the 2200  block of Baxter St. for being the middle of the night it had the strong  presence of a lot of carrying neighbors.

Occured right off the 2 fwy on Glendale Blvd.
Accident brought more then 9,000 DWP clients (homes and businesses) without power. From 1:56 pm to 4:54 pm. The 2 fwy was at a standstill. Drivers were lost and a few attempted to go up Baxter St -the steep hill-, giving up the challenge half way.
